The exhibition Two Sunsets by Željko Badurina is set in the main square of the town of Korčula. The exhibition is visible through personal mobile devices, connecting via Wi-Fi network 'grey) (area. This is a new format for the presentation of selected artistic digital works organized by the association of grey) (area - a space of contemporary and media art from Korčula, which was realized in cooperation with the artistic organization Format C from Zagreb and the Korčula Town Museum.

The exhibition represents a selection of 37 works related to the topic of tourism, which was created and published on social networks from 2013 to 2022. All of Badurina's projects so far have contained elements of humour, irony, the absurd, ambiguity, simulation and montage, and the frequent use of ready-mades, pop art and their mutual juxtaposition. Questioning the themes of globalization and Croatian tourism, this series of works fit into the program line of grey) (area called the Critical Tourism, which reflects on different, often negative consequences of tourism with the emphasis on the common goods of a community, such as public space and infrastructure. Critical tourism comprises a critique of unplanned and chaotic spatial touristification, as well as its social and esthetical connotations.

The grey) (area Wi-Fi gallery has been set up on Pivilion, a free and open operating system developed by Dina Karadžić and Vedran Gligo of Format C. The wireless local area network (WLAN) is freely available, and introduces digital artworks automatically, without a password or further action, to anyone connecting with the Wi-Fi network. In the coming years grey) (area’s Wi-Fi Gallery will be permanently available on Korčula’s St. Mark's Square, presenting works chosen by curators from grey) (area and Format C.

About author

Željko Badurina was born in Zagreb in 1966. He graduated from the graphics department of Zagreb's Academy of Fine Arts, in the class of Professor Miroslav Šutej, in 1996. He is a member of the HDLU (Croatian Association of Fine Artists) and the HZSU (Croatian Association of Freelance Artists). He has been working on the "POST-ART" mail-art project since 2005. His art is generally concerned with contemporary phenomena in visual culture and social life: the mass media, consumer society, tourism, current affairs and manifestations of kitsch at various levels of society. His work has featured in numerous one-man and group exhibitions. Since August 2012 he has been regularly posting his artworks and commentaries on Facebook. He was the recipient of the City Culture Department Prize at the 3rd Croatian Graphics Triennial in 2003, and HDLU Prize for the Best Exhibition of 2013.
