Darko Fritz’s essay Curatorial Practice A Posteriori: Curating as Praxis (Experiences of Grey Area - a Space for Contemporary and Media Art)
Darko Fritz’s essay Curatorial Practice A Posteriori: Curating as Praxis (Experiences of Grey Area - a Space for Contemporary and Media Art) has been published (in Croatian) in PISATI O SUVREMENOJ UMJETNOSTI (Writing about Contemporary Art), a volume co-published by the Croatian Section of AICA and the University of Split, Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences (Zagreb–Split, 2026).
Edited by Silva Kalčić, who also authored the introduction, and designed by Nikola Križanac, the 452-page volume brings together contributions by Croatian and international authors exploring exhibition histories, curatorial practices, critical museology, art criticism, and the politics of memory.
One of the first publications in the Croatian context to focus on the historicization of curatorial practices, the book examines how exhibitions shape the interpretation and institutionalization of contemporary art, produce meaning, and contribute to the writing of art history. It is connected to three editions of the international conference Exhibition Cartographies: Critical Tools, Exhibition and Curatorial Narratives (2022–2024) and the art criticism workshops How to Write about Contemporary Art.
The volume also features AICA: Dialogues (2019–2024), including a text based on the first public conversation in the series, with Matko Meštrović.
